The Journey of the ëcar’Öso far!

  • Before the Motor Car – Houses and work places were close by so you didn’t have to go too far for most things, streets were narrow but neighbourhoods had open spaces to sit around, chat and for children to play.
  • Enter, the Motor Car – Traditional city-scapes became congested, polluted, frustrating experiences for everyone – motorists, cyclists, walkers and people who stay or work there.
  • Sustainable Cities – Compactness, mixed-use, ease of walking and access are again being seen as the qualities of sustainable cities.
  • What to do now? Learn from the past, innovate and experiment –make our cities car-free, cycling and walking-friendly again!
