Call for Deputy Chief Adjudicators (DCAs)

Sano Sansar Initiative would like invite 8 Deputy Chief Adjudicators to be a part of our adjudication core for the Kathmandu Debates 2014. We are looking for 8 applicants who have had remarkable experience in debating as a judge and are keen to help us run the tournament. The applicants must be at least high school graduate on any subject.

The responsibility will be, but not limited to, adjudicating the tournament matches; drafting motions and ranking and guiding junior adjudicators.

Those who possess good knowledge on Karl Popper Debate Format and have participated in International forums are encouraged to apply.
What is expected from DCAs?

  • Commitment to help brief and train other judges well before the tournament.
  • Dedication in working towards ensuring a stimulating and fair tournament.
  • Persuasive, logical and diplomatic speaking abilities.
  • Ability to critique motions from a wider perspective.
  • Honest, professional and well-mannered character.

You application package is expected to include:

a) A Cover Letter explaining your motivation for applying. Please include possible challenges you might face as a DCA and how you could overcome them.
b) Your Resume that includes your history as a debater and debate judge.
c) 3 Sample motions you would like to suggest for Kathmandu Debates 20143 and brief description for why those motions are relevant for this tournament. They should be based upon any of our themes like Sustainable Development, Education etc.

The application deadline is 30th of October, 2013 and you will be notified of your status by 5th of November 2013.
